Rolls Royce Phantom II, y.o.c. 1934
Information
The carriage of this very elegant classic car was built by Barker,
London, in 1934. The proud first owner was Sir Edmund Frank Crane,
joint tenant of the Hercules bicycle factories at Birmingham.
Phantom II adopted its engine (an inline-6cylinders OHV engine of
7668cm³) from its antecessor. It was the very last Rolls Royce
having an engine of six cylinders. The engine´s power was
transferred to the back wheels by a manuel, unsynchronized
four-speed-transmission. The second as well as the fourth gear had
already been synchronized in 1934 but the first and the second gear
still require double-clutch action.
